Committees & Working Groups

The AUVSI Heartland Chapter has a variety of committees and working groups that address all the things needed to keep the chapter going and provide value to members.  Each of the committees is described below.  If you're interested in participating in any of the committees, please reach out to chapter leadership and they'll direct you to the lead for each committee.


Planning/Events - Coordinate and arrange quality programming for Heartland Chapter meetings. Oversee the work of and work in conjunction with other committees.

Communications - Create, leverage and manage the chapter’s web presence as well as social media (including LinkedIn, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook)

Membership & Recruitment - Maximize the participation and chapter membership of  businesses, institutions, and individuals that support the unmanned systems industry in the proposed chapter.

Education/Scholarship/Philanthropy - Further the chapter’s aim of engaging educational institutions and providing unmanned systems education in the chapters proposed geography. Provide scholarships to students engaged in the study of unmanned systems. Recruit and retain local talent.

Legislation/Government Relations - Build support for the Unmanned Community. Develop the Aerial and Connected Vehicle Robotics Technology Cluster within the chapters proposed geography.

Finance - Oversees the financial health of the chapter. Further, develop an outreach program to gain financial support from a variety of community members and businesses within the proposed geography, as well as securing federal funds for R & D, cluster development, and small business member development. To build awareness of AUVSI Heartland Chapter and raise funds to foster educational efforts, such as scholarship awards and educational sponsorships.


333 Exemptions - Examine and share best practices for writing 333 exemption requests.
